C-Peptide, Ghrelin, GIP, GLP-1 (active), Glucagon, Insulin, Leptin, MCP-1, PYY.
Biomarker Research Areas:
Metabolic disorders, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease.
Multiplex Assay Overview:
The assay service provided by Eve Technologies on their Human Metabolic Hormone 9-Plex Array facilitates research on metabolic disorders, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. This Discovery Assay® measures nine metabolic hormone biomarkers simultaneously in a single microwell: C-Peptide, Ghrelin, GIP, GLP-1 (active), Glucagon, Insulin, Leptin, MCP-1, PYY. The assay is designed for protein analysis in serum, plasma, cell culture and tissue homogenates. Other samples can be tested, however we recommend a pilot run.
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, including increased blood pressure, elevated insulin levels, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels. Key features of metabolic syndrome include insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and central obesity—all of which are risk factors for atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, and even premature death. Adults with metabolic syndrome present a low-grade inflammation, whose link with obesity may be a production of pro- and anti-inflammatory factors. Consequently, research done in this area covers multi-faceted fields of cytokines, acute phase proteins, diabetes and obesity related hormones, as well as other cardiovascular disease biomarkers.
Intended Sample Type:
Human serum or plasma (EDTA recommended), cell cultures, tissue homogenates and others. Due to a wide range of sample conditions, a pilot run is recommended for cell cultures, tissue homogenates, and other sample types not listed.
Special Sample Preparation:
For serum and plasma samples, the measurement of certain targets requires the addition of inhibitors at the time of collection. They are as follows:
GLP-1 measurement : DPPIV inhibitor
Glucagon measurement: Aprotinin
Active Ghrelin measurement: Serine protease inhibitor

Sensitivity, Variation, & Accuracy*Note: %CV is an appropriate measure of quality only for sample that have significant detectable concentrations for a particular analyte. Low concentration / low signal samples can often have a much higher %CV as the signals are at the limitations of the assay and fall within a flat portion of the curve.
% recovery is comparing the observed concentration to the expected concentration of samples spiked with the standard curve cocktail at various concentrations.
